Gun men Attack in Ozobulu Anambra State

So so devastating, As some gun men storms a Catholic Church yesterday  in the town of Ozobulu in Anambra state, southeastern part of Nigeria.
It was reported that an unknown gun men visited the church at early hours when the church service was on, They started killing people inside the building.
Leaving 11 dead and 18 injuries.

After this happened yesterday, Preliminary investigations by the police is suggesting that the attack by gunmen at the St Phillips Catholic Church in Ozubulu in Anambra state yesterday August 6th, was due to a failed drug business. A man identified by his alias, Bishop, and one of his brothers in the community known as Obrocho, both based in South Africa, were reportedly drug barons.

The fight between the men bean after a business deal failed and both men stärted accusing each other of cheating.
The feud from the failed business culminated in one of the men sending assassins to kill Bishop who was reportedly in Nigeria on a visit. However, when the assassin and his gang members arrived Bishop's home, they did not meet him at home, so they went in search of his Father, Chief Akunwafor Ikegwuonwu, who was at the church for the morning mass.  They shot him dead as well as other church members.
The state police commissioner, Garba Umar, has dismissed allegations that Boko Haram members were behind the attack. Umar told newsmen yesterday that the church members say the gunmen spoke igbo during the attack.

We believe that more investigation and positive results are coming up.

Germany has legalized same sex marriage

German politicians have voted to legalise same-sex marriage. A total of 393 politicians voted to
legalising "marriage for everybody", while 226 voted against and four abstained from voting.

The snap vote took place about few months ago, only days after Chancellor of Germany Angela
Merkel changed her mind to allow a free vote.

Ms Merkel, has always been against same-sex marriage, but she allowed for the vote after
saying on Monday that politicians could take up the issue as a "question of conscience".
As expected, she voted against the bill citing concerns over the welfare of children.

Members of Ms Merkel's conservative coalition were given the freedom to individually vote for
their choice rather than follow party lines. The Chancellor said though she voted against
legalising gay marriage, she hoped Parliament's approval of the measure would lead to more
social cohesion.

She said: "For me, marriage in the basic law is marriage between a man and a woman and
that is why I did not vote in favour of this bill today."

Germany has allowed same-sex couples to enter civil partnerships since 2001, but same-sex
marriages had remained illegal. All of Ms Merkel's potential coalition partners after the September 4 election have been calling for the legalisation of same-sex marriage. However, her traditional
Catholic conservative bloc was not happy when she announced that she would allow politicians
to vote on same-sex marriage according to their individual conscience drew the ire of some in her traditionally Catholic conservative bloc.

The "marriage for all" bill will grant gay and lesbian couples full marital rights and allows them to
adopt children. It will likely be signed into law by the President some time after July 7.

I want Rivers and Benue on with other biafra states --Nnamdi Kanu

The biafra agitator Nnamdi kanu, rejected Biafra with only 5 Igbo states as he requested for Rivers and Benue States too

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Wednesday, disclosed that the Nigerian Government offered him Biafra Republic while in Prison with only the five South East States as the components parts but he rejected it. .

According to him, he rejected because that did not constitute the complete Biafra, saying that he told them that he wanted a Biafra with Rivers and Benue States inclusive. .

According to Vanguardngr, the IPOB leader also claimed that he was offered an oil block and mansion in Dubai aimed at making him to abandon the cause but that he rejected them and insisted on the actualization of Biafra.

Kanu said those things were Greek gifts to buy him over and maintained that he has no price other than to actualize the restoration of Biafra Republic and liberate the Igbos. .

“They gave me Biafra in Prison with only the five Igbo states; I said no, I want Benue and Rivers”, Kanu said, pointing out that “Biafra is coming, there is nothing to stop it”. .

Kanu who spoke when leaders of Igbo Civil Society Coalition led by Prof. Obasi Igwe paid him a solidarity visit at his Umuahia home, also gave knocks to Igbo elites for their anti-Biafra activities, saying that they have no interest in the Igbo masses.

A Pro-democratic group has announced plans to commence a daily sit-out at the National Assembly in 18 days

It's too ashamed of the failure of the leadership of the National Assembly to launch an investigation or set up a panel to look into the true status of the President's health, the group believes the legislators have been compromised and are working with an known or unknown cabal in the Nation against the people.

The Group Stated;

"We Will Begin Daily Sit-Out At NASS If Buhari Doesn't Return To Work On Day 90, In a statement released on Wednesday by its convener, Deji Adeyanju, and Secretary, Dr. John Danfulani, the group noted that Buhari has now been absent from office and from Nigeria for 72 days, and if the situation remains unchanged, it would commence the sit-outs on the 90th day of his absence.

“The Leadership of the National Assembly must choose between the Nigerian people and the cabal,” So declared the Nigerian.

“72 days is too long for a Commander-in-Chief to be away from his country without any explanation to the people that voted him into power".
The group affirmed that if Mr. Buhari has become incapacitated, he should do the honorable thing and resign, because he cannot continue to hold the country to ransom.

"On the 90th day, We will embark on a sit-out at the National Assembly if the legislature fails to respond to the health conundrum of President Muhammadu Buhari as prescribed by the constitution".

Which it's just 18 days to the 90th day of the President's absence in office.

What you are yet to know about Nkechikwu Azinge; The Young Nigerian Queen's Young Leaders recognized".

Nkechi Azinge, 28 years old, A doctoral candidate in Law at the University of Warwick, Who hail from delta state Southern part of Nigeria has really lived up to her goals and still coming up.

She, is the founder of Sickle Cell Aid Foundation (SCAF) which she founded in 2010 to help the poor unprivileged sickle cell patients in Nigeria at large.

Her Good gesture and consign for humanity has merited her the Queen’s Young Leaders Award, for her commitment to serving humanity, also she bagged the Commonwealth Youth Achiever award in the same year.

Yet again In same year 2016, she was named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Nigeria. The Queen’s Young Leaders (QYL) programme selects exceptional young persons who are proven inspirational leaders in their communities.
While its requirements are similar to the requirements for the Commonwealth Youth Achievers, the QYL gives preference to individuals who have overcome challenges to achieve their goals.

And indeed Nkechikwu Azinge had faced a lot of challenges coming up, slite are what she mentioned below..

Hear what she said.
“I got to meet House of Lords members, Steve McQueen and other important personalities, but meeting David Beckham was definitely the highlight of my time at Buckingham Palace. I’ve never been a football fan but my dad and brother have always been. They are die-hard Manchester United fans and were over the moon when I informed them of his possible attendance – proxy excitement maybe? I was glad to have meaningful leadership conversations with him and also took selfies,” she said.
The surreal experience of meeting the Queen, and shaking hands with her was an overwhelming experience.
“I missed my steps whilst curtseying,” she said as she laughed. “To be honest, it still feels surreal because I grew up with great admiration for the British monarch. I may be fortunate enough to interact with various human rights activists and captains of industries, but there are few greater honours than being acknowledged for my service to the community by Queen Elizabeth,” she said.
The experience is however beyond just the handshake, it remains a symbolic validation of Azinge’s work with the SCAF, from inception. The recognition has exposed her to leadership courses at the University of Cambridge, which she adds, has been instrumental in steering the foundation in the right direction".

The Sickle Cell Experience
For her, sickle cell has become a daily living threaten. While not a carrier of the disorder herself, she watched as her twin, Nkem, suffered from the debilitating effects of sickle cell disease. The discovery was met with unanswered questions, uncertainties and endless nights of pain, she recalled. Instead of adopting a defeatist attitude, she sought ways to help, even if it meant deploying tough love.

She said;
“Her frequent crises made me more disciplined and alert. For instance, I would threaten to report her if she didn’t take her drugs. We would do our assignments on time – in case a crisis came. Given the expectations of our parents, no reason is enough for failure,” She said adding that those experiences prepared her for the future, and culminated in the establishment of the foundation.
“My primary inspiration for SCAF was borne out of watching my twin sister undergo series of crisis in Nigeria. Her health however dramatically improved when she moved to England (for school). I became curious as to how the less privileged with sickle cell disorder get access to quality health care like my sister did. I was further perplexed by the lack of awareness and stigma attached to sickle cell disorder. It is for these reasons that I sourced out like-minded persons and together we started SCAF,” She stated.

The foundation, which has reached over 17,000 people across the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) including Abuja, conducts free genotype tests, and encourages people to know their genotype. It is also involved in sensitisation about sickle cell anaemia condition. The foundation is funded mainly through grants and donations.

Things you need to know about Nkechikwu;

In a Family of Lawyers
Azinge’s choice of career seems natural – she was born into a family of lawyers. Her father is the popular Professor Epiphany Azinge, a law lecturer and former Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS). And, her mother is Dr. Valerie Azinge, also a lawyer.
Two of her siblings are lawyers. One can only imagine the kind of conversation in their home. She agreed that the arguments in the house get very interesting, and have been helpful for her thesis.
“My twin sister is the only one who did not study Law. She is a software engineer. Everyone has their views and argues strongly. My twin is catching up with legal stuff now.”
Growing up was exciting, she recalled, and added that her parents chose to discipline through corrections and thought-provoking conversations, rather than spanking.
“My siblings and I spent our formative years in Abuja. I grew up addicted to reading Nigerian novels. My favourite was and still remains Anthills of the Savannah by Chinua Achebe. I also loved to listen to Kanye West to the irritation of my three amazing siblings. I loved playing video games and I was always the goalkeeper whenever my brother and cousins played football. Your guess is as good as mine, I sucked at both,” young Azinge said.
The NTIC Influence
Her can-do spirit was not just influenced by her family background, but by her secondary school, Nigeria Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) formerly Nigeria Turkish International Colleges.
“My formative years were spent at NTIC, and thus, I can proudly say that my ideas, thought patterns and zeal to excel were formed at the college. More important, NTIC made me believe that I could achieve whatever I set my mind to. For instance, during my first two years at the college, I struggled to keep my grades high. Mr. Orhan, my mathematics teacher, consistently pushed me to excel not just in mathematics but in other subjects. His hope in my abilities was met with self-doubt and uncertainty. One day, he called me out to solve an equation and said, ‘I know you can do this. I believe in you,” Azinge recalled.
“This statement spurred faith in my abilities. Needless to say, I solved the equation correctly. After then, I studied harder than ever in all my courses. Surprisingly, my grades improved and I ranked top of my class till my graduation. Thus, I have no doubt that the qualities instilled in me have remained crucial in enabling me make decisions and overcome challenges,” she added.
While in junior secondary school, Azinge was inclined to the social sciences. She was gravitating towards human rights, after seeing the impact her mum was making while working at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). She, however, performed better in the sciences in the Junior WAEC exams, and was therefore placed in the science class.
Her school, NTIC however stepped in, and placed her in social sciences class.
“To date, that remains one of the most profound decisions I have made as it made me realise my power to wheel my future,” she said.
She admitted that most competitions in NTIC at the time were focused on the sciences, but she was encouraged to participate in writing competitions. Things have however changed as there are more social science competitions both nationally and internationally that students can participate in.
“NTIC provided a platform for specialised trainings and excellence in different ways. Firstly, I had amazing teachers, specifically in literature, government and art who used different but unique approaches to instill knowledge and skills in me. Secondly, I was privileged to be able to join a number of clubs, such as the literature and writing club, junior achievers, etc. These clubs offered me specific training on key areas and prepared me to engage in internal and external writing and business competitions,” the young achiever noted.
The Present and the Future
The young lawyer plans to specialise in regulatory/compliance law, which involves ensuring that financial institutions obey the law so as to mitigate risk and ensure financial stability and integrity. She also hopes to eventually toe her father’s path, and teach.
She seems on the right path, she is currently a teaching/research assistant at her university, teaching Law and International Business Environment, and Financial Services Regulations.
Azinge is responsible for facilitating group discussions on the subjects and responsible for preparing and delivering lectures on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CTF) and enforcement/supervision regarding financial institutions. She is also responsible for communicating key areas of concern deduced from tutorial discussions to module conveners.
The QYL awardee also doubles as the journal/blog editor, Law, Social Justice and Global Development Journal of her institution.
She obtained her first degree in LLB at the University of Leicester, UK with a second class honours (Upper Division) and her master’s in Law at the University of Warwick where she graduated with a distinction.
She expects to round off her doctoral program in September. On the sidelines of her busy schedule, the young achiever enjoys photography, travelling, and reading.
Would she return to Nigeria?
“I’m not sure at the moment, but if God wills, I’m hoping to work here for a few years and then return to Nigeria,” she said.

News: Two TV presenters attacked on Twitter by President Donald Trump have accused him of lying and suggested the White House tried to blackmail them.

The hosts of MSNBC Morning Joe said they were warned a tabloid would run a negative story on them unless they said sorry for their coverage of Mr Trump.
Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough said Mr Trump's tweets were "vicious" and "frightening".
The president called them "low IQ crazy Mika" and "Psycho Joe" on Thursday.
He also referred to Ms Brzezinski as "bleeding badly from a facelift".
The couple, who are engaged to be married, wrote a joint response in Friday's Washington Post accusing the president of an "unhealthy obsession" with them.
The TV presenters also said three White House officials had told them the National Enquirer would publish a negative article about them unless they apologised to Mr Trump for their scrutiny of him.
Mr Scarborough said: "They said, 'if you call the president up and you apologise for your coverage then he'll pick up the phone and basically spike the story.'"
"I had, I will just say, three people at the very top of the administration calling me."
Ms Brzezinski said reporters from the supermarket tabloid began harassing her family.

Senator Lindsey Graham said Mr Trump's remarks on Thursday were "beneath the office" of president.

"GEJ was a weak and incompetent president, aunty patience his wife would have made a better leader- IPOB leader, Nnamdi kanu says"

Leader of the Indeginous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has described former president Goodluck Jonathan as a weak and incompetent leader who did nothing for the South East region. In a recent interview with The Sun news, Kanu said Jonathan's wife, Patience, would have made a better leader.
“Jonathan is my uncle, yes. I was one of those who said Jonathan’s tenure was more or less an Igbo presidency. It’s on record I said that. But, he knew I never liked his regime because he was weak and incompetent.
I don’t support evil. If you do good, I will tell you, if you do bad, I will say it the way it is; I don’t curry favours. He was weak. I said I wish it was aunty Patience Jonathan who was in-charge, she would have done better. Look at where Jonathan dropped us today. He never finished building the East/West Road, but, he built railway line from Abuja to Kaduna, so they will love him. Who told you that if they did not love Zik, that they will love you?”
Also he added that he never hated the North just as some people portray him to be.
“People think I hate the North; that’s not true, but the only thing is that I say things the way they are, I don’t know how to tell lies to curry favours. People do not know that I love (former presidents Shagari and Yar’Adua more than I love (former president, Nnamdi Azikiwe) Zik. I’m saying this because when we were young and were growing up, the only notable person that built any notable infrastructure I saw with my two eyes was Shagari. The Enugu/Igwuocha (that the white man named Port Harcourt) Expressway, was built by the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) government of Shagari and then you can travel with joy because it was smooth and very clean. Now, tell me who has ever done that since after Shagari, no, tell me. Which other infrastructure will you be proud of, nobody has ever done anything again.”he said

"There will be no election in Biafra land. No more elections. They can put whoever they like in office, they can do whatever they like with their political positions but we will not engage in any political process"- IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, says in new interview

In a new interview with Deutche Welle Africa, IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, says there would be no election in the South East unless the federal government conducts a referendum on Biafra. Kanu during the week told members of his group that there would be no election in the South East, starting with Anambra state, unless the Federal government agrees to its call for a referendum on Biafra. Speaking in the interview, Kanu said
"There will be no election in Biafra land. No more elections. They can put whoever they like in office, they can do whatever they like with their political positions but we will not engage in any political process".
Making reference to the various attacks by herdsmen, Kanu said although the Biafran agitation is a peaceful one, they would require arms and ammunition for self defense.
"I am sure you have heard about the Fulani herdsmen killing people all over the place. So how do you intend to defend yourself against the Fulani people who have guns and bullets. They have been killing our people, raping our women, destroying crops in the farms. No one has done anything about it. Is that how human beings are supposed to live? Self defense is recognized even by the laws in the UN. We have the right. If someone were to barge into this interview and is wielding a machete or an AK 47, are you suggesting we should let  them get away with it".
Kanu described Nigeria as an uncivilized country. He said he was not treated fairly by the Nigerian judicial system.
"I was not treated fairly. Nigeria is not a civilized country. People behave like animals. They are not reasonable enough. They are not disciplined. They are not mentally developed enough to run a transparent civil society They have a fiddle mindset where you have the ruling class and a multitude of poverty stricken who never utter any word in rebellion or to even ask questions about their plight. That is one thing we are determined to challenge".
When asked how he feels using such words to describe Nigerians, Kanu said
"I am being very kind to be honest. I could have used far more harsh words to describe them. I am being very kind. Perhaps there are a few good people among them but as a collective, it is a complete mess and you can see for yourself. You look through the road, you see how horrible they are. Don't you see how unkempt everywhere is? How filthy and dirty everywhere is? That is the product of a Nigerian system that is uniquely backwards even by the very third world standards of black Africa".
According to Kanu, Biafra existed before the British came into Nigeria
"We were existing before the British came. Just allow us to go back to what we were before. No African came to Europe to create countries, so for somebody to just come here and say you, you and you are now Nigerians is simply laughable".
